Senegal to host major international sporting event in 2026 under Bassirou Diomaye Faye

Senegal has been chosen to host the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG 2026). Thus, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye took advantage of his presence in Paris at the "Sport for Sustainable Development" summit to express his determination and commitment to making this historic event a complete success.

For the first time in history, the Youth Olympic Games will take place in Africa. And it is Senegal that will host this Olympic event in 2026. To this end, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye indicated that his country is ready to take up this challenge on behalf of the entire African continent. To this end, the first Senegalese citizen announced that this historic event will be prepared in close collaboration between the State, the IOC and the National Organizing Committee, headed by Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, President of the Senegalese National Olympic Sports Committee. Anything that will allow each party to put its experience into play for a perfect success.

The Head of State of Senegal did not fail to notify that he will be particularly involved in this organization. Thus, to ensure responsible financial management, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has opted for the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing infrastructure to host the competitions, rather than building new costly facilities. It should also be noted that all arrangements will be made to ensure that athletes and participants can stay in the best conditions in terms of security, accommodation, transportation, catering and health.
